The sector of industry is gaining a great importance in our national economy, because of the great role such sector has in constituting the added economic value, in establishment both the national product and income, in addition to provide working to an important part of workmen. Yet, the export industrial sector has also a great importance in the components of the balance of commerce, and in giving incentives to the general growth of the Economy.
Therefore, the growth of the industrial production and the increase or widening of the industrial exports horizons has important and direct impacts in the operation of the general growth either economical or industrial, and to improve the status of the Lebanese Balance of Commerce. Despited the difficult cruel circumstances through which the Lebanese industry went, it could realize a total significant progress in many of its sectors.
Our industrial production is good, and our industry enjoys a high rank of skills, knowledge and engagement. According to us, this is sufficient and ensuring, especially if it is linked with positive circumstances able to activate our industrial production, enhancing its competitive abilities and therefore, increasing the opportunity in a world which markets became free and open.
If the good industrial production gives a greater force to the national economy for growth and development, defining such production and promoting same equals in importance the fact of manufacturing the industrial goods of whatever kind.
The important issued is not only the production, but yet selling such production derivatives in all internal and external markets and to make it a promotion force to produce more of those positive effective effects in the general economic growth.
We link that the official Lebanese efforts and the efforts of the Private Lebanese sector as well, must settle during the next period to strengthen the horizons of growth related to our industrial sector, so that the general economic and industrial opportunities become greater as well. This fact can be realized by making good studying concerning the actual difficulties and hindrances, and to seriously search in the set of successful solutions, so that we could lead our industry to its safe ground port, and provide it with the characteristics of both sustained progress and development.
Therefore, publishing the Guide Book of the Lebanese Exports and Industrial Establishments, since early eighties and through its previous editions, was established to fulfill a main need in constituting a reference for the Lebanese industry in the regard of introducing the industrial establishments, and the national industrial production, in accordance to the international descriptions and standards which are known in the fields of marketing, and classification of the Lebanese produced goods.
We hope that the fifth edition of this guide would come in the right moment, when the world succeeds in unifying the customs clauses that are the basis of the numbering related to exchanging goods between the states (Countries), especially that it adopted the harmonized custom classification HS code.
On this occasion, it is necessary to underline the importance of which work requiring a great efforts and co-operations between all the competent sides of the industry. We are sure that the continuity of such necessary and important projects is the true evidence of its success, therefore it is important to support it continuously.
